Additional Information

We socialize Friday night around a bonfire.  Saturday morning we begin working at 9 am.  Most of the jobs are outlined on a list with a few special jobs for skilled workers.  Some typical jobs are cutting firewood, painting, moving benches and uncovering the pool.  The work load is light and there will be many people helping.  Work usually lasts until noon or sooner.  The rest of the weekend is for enjoyment.  Saturday afternoons are always fun!

Saturday night has the Corps meetings, a bonfire, cards, knock poker, exploring, etc.  The meetings should last only 1 to 1 1/2 hours.  The Corps' are state-wide groups that raise money solely for camp.

Sunday morning everyone helps clean their cabin and we all leave camp better than when we found it.

The cabins are modern climate controlled, concrete floored, open dormitory, duplex buildings with one big shared bathroom per side.  Each cabin has 18 beds, 3 showers, 3 toilets, 4 sinks, washer and dryer.

Things to pack include:

Sleeping bag (to put over the top of the thin mattresses)

Sheet, blanket, pillows, etc. (bunks are single size)

Sleepwear

Shower shoes, towels, toiletries, toilet paper (bring a 4 pack or bigger of TP and leave the leftover for the campers to use this summer)

Snacks, chips, jerky, gum, etc.

Beverages of choice (include water in your cooler, camp has an ice machine to refill your coolers)

Jacket, change of clothes, work clothes, work gloves, work boots, hat

Flashlight and fishing pole, if you want

Whatever else you might need for a weekend away

The camp really is a great place.  If you want to check it out, use this link to go to their website.

The directions are simple, too.  The camp is located in Rocky Mount, MO, about 8 miles southwest of Eldon.

Go south on Hwy 54 from Jefferson City to Eldon.  The road gets curvy between Jeff City and Eldon.

Take the first exit for Eldon, Business 54, just past Opie's Milk Transport depot.  You'll see it on the right.

Follow Business 54 through Eldon.  As you leave Eldon turn left and go south on Hwy Y to Rocky Mount.  Hwy Y is about 1 mile past the McDonald's restaurant, and it is a 'T' intersection.  Hwy Y is a curvy and hilly road.

As you come into Rocky Mount you'll pass an Am Vets on the right with a gas station just past Am Vets.  Turn right on the road immediately before the gas station.  The name of the road is Wonderland Lane.

Go west about 2 miles.  Beware of the first curve!  It is a hard left and demands you slow down.

After 1 to 2 miles you'll come to a big sign for Wonderland Camp.  Turn right at the sign on Special Friends Road.  The road is a short stretch of gravel about a city block long.  Go over the hill and down through the gates of the camp.
